Are you answering emails on waking? Has your caffeine intake crept up again? Are you making time for exercise and a modicum of a social life?
If you want to break free from routine, experience a true adventure that refreshes the soul and invigorates the body and STILL come back from your trip feeling amazing...
Combine energising mountain time with clean, wholesome food, yoga and meditation
Here is a picture from one of our latest retreats, where we enjoyed a wonderful and exhilarating week with these gorgeous yogis, detoxing and charging for the New Year! The feedback was resoundingly positive and we are looking forward to doing it all again in March! We have redressed the ski-holiday balance, and aim to send you out onto the hill bouncing in your ski boots. With the combination of three daily yoga sessions, delicious and energising food, mountain air and a cozy luxury chalet, help to make this winter’s ski holiday something more than the run of the mill.
Early Morning begins with meditation and a vinyasa flow practice, tailored to the energy of the group, overlooking the snowy backdrop of the Méribel Valley.
Meals are lovingly prepared plant-based fare, using organic, local produce where possible, and we can cater for all dietary requirements. During the day we hit the piste: check out this view: we all absolutely loved being above this beautiful cloud inversion that day. The evening is rounded off with the sweet surrender of a restorative practice such as Sleep enhancing Yoga Nidra or intention-setting meditation.
And next week, we get to do it all again!!
If your batteries need re-charging, come and find us.

As the bell tolls twelve on the eve of the New Year, as if by magic the fitness, health and diet industry spring back into life and the radio, TV ads and social media are aflood with images and promises of that new level of fitness, that new body, fresh peace of mind. At BodhiAdventure we like to do things a little differently: honouring the auspicious nature of the New Year, but also remembering the heaviness of winter and quietly waiting for Spring for bigger changes.
And so we have gently made our way through January, making small daily tweaks, prepping for our first Yoga and Ski retreat of 2017 (which is taking place this week- happysigh) and reap the benefit rather than trip on over-ambitious life-changes.
Some changes we would recommend for you:
Get that earlier night: going to bed just an hour later over several nights can really take its toll. Stress is often made worse with lack of sleep. Sufficient sleep can also impact on processing speeds and memory. Can you download a sleep-app or keep a sleep diary, or set a reminder on your phone?
Start each day with a few sun salutations - this is a truly wonderful way to awaken your body, to stretch, to say good morning to each of your muscles. As your week goes on increase the number - taking a week to build up into a full sun salutation. You will gradually feel your body gain strength and your confidence with it.
Develop your yoga nidra practice: this technique, used to awaken the connection between body, mind, and soul is like a deep sleep while you are still awake, with many health benefits: not least for stress levels and helping you unwind at the end of the day.
What about you? Can you recommend any small changes for big impact? And has the New Year been good to you so far?
Looking forward to the New Year...
December is to cosy, what January is to forward-looking. The New Year is an opportunity to pause and reflect on the year that has been, and make plans for the next twelve months. We feel this is an important time to make space for mindful re-connection with self after the giddiness of Christmas. January is the perfect time to let go of more frivolous goals and reaffirm the important vision you will set yourself for the coming period: a time to challenge ourselves anew, or face our fears to achieve incredible new feats.
The following questions help frame this vision, and support the re-shaping and re-affirming what is truly important.
6 Questions to ask yourself to end the year well:
It's never too late.
See you on the other side.
Are you eagerly awaiting the most wonderful time of the year, or does the sound of mince-pies and mistletoe fill you with dread? If December feels more fretful than festive, perhaps it's time to mindfully re-connect with yourself through meditation or yoga, or even time for a new adventure?
Taking responsibility for our own well-being, opens the door to connecting with the infinite source. We must fill our cup up, nourish ourselves in order to give to others, creating deep inner fulfillment. In the darkest part of the year, this takes a little extra effort and planning, and with a full diary, self care can be low priority.
Being mindful of small changes and the tipping point that these can amount to, over days and weeks is not to be underestimated. Making sure we stay adequately hydrated, getting a few early nights in before the party season, and remembering to prioritise some time for the things we found so easy in the sun are all ways to top up. But refreshing and creating deep wellbeing can be more of a task.
There are so many routes and so many elements to creating wellbeing, which is why we feel the immersion of a retreat is a fantastic way of removing the distractions and concentrating on what is important.
How do you prioritise YOUR self care around Christmas? How can you invest in your health and make the best start to 2017?
We'd love to hear from you...
Thinking about what a yoga retreat can do for you? Here are our top five reasons why we know that yoga retreats work and why we are so passionate about delievering them, especially to you!
1. It's that weekend which will break you out of the bad habit cycle and set you sailing on a new, healthier, more vibrant path.
You'll relax, feel refreshed and settle within a few hours of arriving. There are no demands on a retreat, you just have to be, which allows you time to absorb the new information that is coming towards you, to understand the disruptive cycles we can roll in at home and we work together to get everything back on track, sleep patterns, eating, exercise and self belief. We look at the best version of you all weekend and how we can keep that alive at home.
2. Your yoga goes to a new level.
Your regular class is a great foundation and ongoing progression in your yoga journey, but have you ever thought about the next step? How would you like to develop that home routine (one of your new habits)? Would you like to really sink into a that deep meditation space that you always feel you struggle with in class? When was the last time you sent your body upside down or played around on your hands? Within a retreat setting we have more time to focus on the deeper aspects of the practice and how to wrap it up into something you can use at home.
3. You detox... physically, emotionally and digitally.
When was the last time you were without your laptop or tablet in the evening? When was the last time you snuggled in a chair with a book without feeling guilty?
When was the last time that you were the only person you had to worry about getting up in the morning? We all need some time out every now and then. Some people see this as unfair to their family and loved ones, we see it as essential time. It all comes down to if you are not firing and feeling 100%, how will you keep giving 100% to all those around you. You need and deserve the recharge.
4. You look at everything with a new perspective.
Taking yourself out of day to day tasks and away from familiar sights can be one of the biggest reset tools you can use. It's powerful, you think differently, act differently and feel like a whole new person, fresh with ideas, dreams and desire.
5. You really deserve some time for you, embrace it.
You are the reason all those around you keep ticking, taking time for you supports them and empowers you. You really do deserve it.
